>What drugs are you taking? "A 620-2181 isn't enough." Enough for what? Enough for java. The machine just can't handle java. It can take a half hour to start websphere. Maybe 15-20 minutes to end it. So you build a servlet, start websphere. Take a very long break. Servlet doesn't work well. So you make changes, and stop/start websphere again. For it to take that long makes it no kind of development or training machine. On a 600, it could take an hour to start websphere. To run java you've got to have the right machine. If java is anywhere in the equation don't waste your money on a 600. That's my opinion. "A 620-2181 isn't enough." Enough for what? This machine has 210 CPW - for one user (possibly two)? What is "it" that can take "many hours" when accessing the database? Does accessing mean retreiving hundreds of millions of records? What am I missing? If a real company can run their business with this machine, why is it that a single student can't use it to learn how the System/38 AS/400 e(logo) Server iSeries works? I am lost... totally lost. I don't get it. Charly Jones > >Phil wrote: > >>If the term Java comes up in anything you may want to do, do not get a >>low-end 600. It can take many hours when accessing the database.
