The IBM 7208-342 (the only 8mm drive IBM still sells for iSeries) uses one of those drives. 20GB capacity per tape, 40GB with compression. Data transfer rate (with/without compression) rated at 3M/6M per second. Uses 170m Advanced Metal Evaporated tapes. Can read but not write 2.3GB, 5GB & 7GB tapes. http://www.source.be/papers/exabyte/mammoth.html http://www.exabyte.com/ I think the latest variation of the drive is Mammoth-2. Doubt you'll see an iSeries attachable version. http://www.zdnet.com/products/stories/overview/0,8826,194178,00.html ...Neil "Bale, Dan" <D.Bale@handleman.com> Sent by: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com 2001/06/19 14:37 Please respond to MIDRANGE-L To: <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> cc: Subject: RE: Mammoth tape drives Ah, yes, Exabyte!
