Denis, Check the Adapter Address of your Internet cards on the LAN for duplicates (with winipcfg or whatever). Yes, this ISN'T supposed to happen - but we went through the same problem with a customer in Montreal a little over a year ago and first suspected they had an NT box running DHCP on the LAN, and after we eliminated that possibility we suspected a problem with DHCP on the 400 and opened a problem with IBM. Well, it turns out the customer received THREE IBM Ethernet Adapters with identical addresses out of an order for nine IBM desktop PC's, so the 400 couldn't tell them apart. Temporarily we gave two of them permanent IP addresses while IBM followed up to see how this could have happened. They were going to replace the cards with the duplicate addresses and take the bad ones back to investigate. That was a year and a half ago. They still haven't bothered to get the old cards to check out the problem. I guess they're not too concerned about it ! ...Neil "Denis Robitaille" <DRobitaille@cascades.com> Sent by: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com 2001/06/19 14:22 Please respond to MIDRANGE-L To: <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> cc: Subject: AS/400 DHCP problem Hello all, We recently started to use our AS/400 to serve DHCP adresses. Every thing seem to be working fine except that we started to receive error on our workstations. The error states that there is a conflict in addresses as if 2 host were assigne the same IP address. This appens 2 to 5 times a week. Did anybody else had this experience? If so, how did you solve it? Any input will be apreciated Denis Robitaille Directeur services techniques Cascades Inc 819 363 5187 fax 819 363 5177 +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
