A couple of notions come to mind:
1) Stored procedure in DB2 to accept a text parm an pass to a command
parser. You can pass parameters both ways, I think.
2) FTP server on the AS400 allows for remote commands, though that may be
disabled through exit points or what-not.
3) Custom Socket Server. Roll your own remote command processor. You can
have total control over what gets passed back and forth.
4) CAE provides full support for iSeries connectivity (RCMD, DTAQs, etc.) at
one low price... Free! You can use the basic features of CAE without
licensing.

I would like to be able to run an AS/400 program from my VB program.

Is there a way to do that? MUST I have Client Access?

Also; can I receive any return parameters or messages?

I used to do this all the time using PC Support/400 ... YEARS ago.
