I have seen this phenomenon on the S/38. My understanding was always this: "If you want things in order, Sort them" You can never depend on the machine to present the records in a specific order unless you tell it to. Solutions: 1) Write a program instead of a query 2) Add a sequence field (timestamp?) to the record and sort the query that way. You don't necessarily need to populate the timestamp field - the system can do that for you so there aren't any other changes to your application.
