Joe,

If you call open() with the right parms, it'll do the EBCDIC to ASCII
conversion for you...

You can probably find quite a bit more info if you did a search of

If you're interested, I could also send you a copy of the /copy 
member I use for stream files...  it's posted in one of those links
above, but I've probably fixed few bugs in it since that message
was posted 2 years ago. :)  If you're interested, just ask.
