We've been thinking about this sort of situation for some of our customers.
According to Rochester it would be possible & secure to use LPAR on your
800 series box to provide both a production server and Web server(s), if
you had the internal LAN option switched off between one and the other to
protect the DMZ setup (assuming these are externally facing Web servers -
otherwise no problem & you wouldn't need LPAR to do it). (The LPAR internal
LAN can only be configured from the primary partition, which is what makes
it safe.)
Re NT, you could put one or more INS's in it (sorry, IXS).
If you do these sort of things, and it saves day-to-day operational effort
... publicise the fact ... please!
Mandy

  >-----------------------------------------------------------------------|

We are considering upgrading from a 620 to an 820 (8XX?). With only 60-70
users the 820 may be more than we need. I am therefore looking for other
ways that we can utilize the 820, specifically as a web server. The company
has several web sites using other machines. In what ways can the ISeries
8XX
be utilized by the internet division with its 20 web sites, if at all, or
as
an NT server? How and in what way is this being done?
Thanks,
Phil
