*IBM LAUNCHES THE iSERIES NATION

IBM has started rolling out a major new campaign for iSeries users
called the iSeries Nation.

The initiative is described as a "world wide evangelists club" by
John Burns, IBM iSeries product marketing manager, EMEA. In a
message to iSeries-oriented IBM staff two weeks ago, Buell Duncan,
iSeries supremo, said: "The thrust of the iSeries Nation is to
create a focal point to rally our loyal customers, partners, and
employees into a community dedicated to promoting the iSeries.
This, in concept, is similar to the Harley-Davidson Owners Group
(HOG). This campaign will enlist customers, partners, and
employees to join the iSeries Nation and, as such, benefit from
"citizenship" through various promotions."

The iSeries Nation was launched this week at the huge iSeries
love-fest that is COMMON USA, which this year is being held in New
Orleans. The programme's first stage saw IBM urging iSeries users
to visit IBM's iSeries website at
http://www.ibm.com/eserver/iseries. iSeries users are then asked
to sign up as iNation members in return for a free gift and an
iNation "passport". The free gifts are three different types of
bag, and pretty nifty they are too, I'm told. The site is well
worth a visit because, for a start, it's actually quite humorous
and, as Buell Duncan said in his memo: "Through your efforts, no
one will ever say again: "iSeries is the best kept secret in the
market today." And through your efforts, we will all be rewarded."

We'll be keeping you up to date on this new initiative over the
next few weeks, so, in the meantime, register for your free gift.
