Al,

The software installation manual for V4R5 says that an upgrade from V3R2 to
V4R5 cannot be done directly, with or without the Roadmap. You need to
upgrade to an intermediate release first. Did they restore this function
in V5R1? Check out the following:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr/BOOKS/qb3awg04/1.2#TBLSUPTRLS

Also, for the others,

On V5R1:
                  Specify Value for Parameter TGTRLS

Type choice, press Enter.

Type . . . . . . . . . . . . . : SIMPLE NAME
Target release . . . . . . . . . *CURRENT

*CURRENT
*PRV
V4R4M0
V4R5M0
V5R1M0

==================
Remember the Cole!

IBM announced today that V5R1 will be available in late May, and that you
can upgrade directly from V4R4 (as well as V3R2). You can no longer
compile back as var as V3R2, which closes the loophole of being able to
compile back to V3R7, V4R1, V42R2 and V4R3.

So a direct upgrade it possible, but many people subscribe to the theory
that they don't want to upgrade to any new release until the first post-GA
CUM is available.
