IBM announced today that V5R1 will be available in late May, and that you
can upgrade directly from V4R4 (as well as V3R2). You can no longer
compile back as var as V3R2, which closes the loophole of being able to
compile back to V3R7, V4R1, V42R2 and V4R3.

So a direct upgrade it possible, but many people subscribe to the theory
that they don't want to upgrade to any new release until the first post-GA
CUM is available.

Hello all,

can anybody tell me from which date the new release V5R1 will be
available.
I also want to know if it is possible to upgrade directly from V4R4 to
V5R1.

IBM ends the support for V4R4 at 31th of may 2001 but there is an offer for
extended support up to 30th November 2001.
If it is poosible to upgrade directly from V4R4 to V5R1. we thing about
using this offer.

Any help appreciated.

A. Wälde
