the "JAR" tool creates files which can be
processed by any zip-tool.

the good : you don't have to pay for it,
It comes with OS/400.

the "bad" : it works only in the IFS.

But when you can invest some time you can
copy a file to an IFS directory and then start QSH .

from any command line type :

qSh
jar cf /home/zipdir/zipfile.zip /home/filedir/file
