I started to use the built-in referential constraints a while back. The problem I ran into was that I had to design my DB views around the requirements for the constraint rather than my programming requirements - after talking to IBM about it I decided it was too intrusive and moved my referential constraints to triggers. This was quite a while ago so I don't really remember the details. I was/am on v4r3.
