ROFLMAO!

Um, does the CEO look anything like the "pointy-haired boss"? Geez, Al, you
should submit that story to the Dilbert web site.

Still laughing!

At all places I have ever worked, I have been in the habit of a selection of
suitable tasks loaded up on JOBQ when I go home & some of them even scheduled
to start running at like 3 am. One Sunday the CEO stopped at the office over
the weekend & he noticed the computer running & he knew nothing about
electrical safety or electrical bills or how long it takes to re-IPL or what
happens to the hard disk drives when there is a loss of power, but his
reaction was that it was not prudent to have electrical appliances running
unattended, & he knew nothing about the control panels so he pulled the plug.

I show up Monday & am in a panic. Not only has the system gone down & not
gone back up automatically, but everything is dead. I call IBM service. IBM
CE in the computer room when the CEO walks in & tells us about the wall plug.

Sir, I tell the CEO, I think you are risking thousands of dollars to save a
few dimes. My boss or perhaps IBM support could tell you what the cost is to
the hard drives compared to what you saving in electricity, but if you really
want the computer sitting idle when it could be working, perhaps I should be
authorized to cut the power to the whole building when I leave at nite, from
the main power panels, and we should invest in a larger computer that does
not need unattended operations, or a 2nd shift operator.

My boss backed me up on this, thankfully.
