Dimitri,

I must disagree with your comment on Rollback and images. While it is true
that before and after images are needed to perform a rollback, it is NOT
necessary to specify *both in the strjrnpf command. You can specify *AFTER
and any non-commitment updates will only record the after images. When you
open a file for commitment control the before images are journaled
regardless of the images parameter. The system protects itself.

Subject: RE: Commitment Control & Journalling

As far as I know:
Do I need to start journalling for a physical file If a program that uses
the file is coded for commitment control?[Dimitri Efimov] Yes

Do I need to use commitment control within a program for a physical file
that has been started for journalling?[Dimitri Efimov] NO

What are the consequences when a program that does commitment control on a
physical file is executed and the physical file journalling was ended prior
to running the program?[Dimitri Efimov] U can't do this (the comand
"endjrn" will failed)

When using interactive SQL, do you need to start journal for the file used
to start commitment control?[Dimitri Efimov] Yes

Thanks,

Dare

[Dimitri Efimov] Pay attention to the parameter IMAGES, (U can't make
ROLLBACK if IMAGES = *AFTER)
