About a month ago, we switched from one AS/400 to another. The reason was financial, renewing the lease on the older system was a hit the company couldn't afford anymore, so we permanently switched to the disaster recovery mirror. The machines were almost identical 720's, both at V4R4, same PTF's installed, etc. The main difference is that the newer machine is at a remote site, connected to the rest of the WAN by a dedicated T-1 line, whereas the old machine was here at corporate headquarters. The problem we've had since day 1 is that we lose 5250 sessions with some frequency, both here and at the remote plants. Although we had occasional problems at the plants with the old machine, they are much more frequent now, and we never had this problem here before. We've tried installing the latest cume and all group PTF's (as of 2 weeks ago), but that had no impact. The line has been checked six ways from Sunday, with nothing ever showing up. Connections to the NT box that the /400 shares the room with are rock solid, although no one connects to it by telnet so the comparison may not be fair. We are on V4R4, and the PC's are running a mix of V4R4 Client Access Express and V3R2 Client Access for Win 9x/NT. The session drops are pretty random - I normally have 4 sessions open, and I usually don't lose all 4 at once, nor do we have many instances of losing more than a couple of users at a time. Service pack levels at the PC's don't seem to matter, I'm running the very latest, but we have some with pretty ancient packs which are no more nor less susceptible. Does anyone have any suggestions? There used to be a list of all the latest TCP/IP PTF's available for V4R2, is there one for V4R4? If so, does anyone have a URL or an Information APAR number? Thanks in advance!
