  • Subject: Mirroring/Tape Problem

Hi Everyone,

This is not an AS/400 question (since it involves something that "doesn't
work" ;-) ), but since many of you work on hybrid systems maybe someone
can point me in the right direction. Right now, our network people are
stumped.

We have a NetWare 5.0 network, which we are mirroring using Legato
(formerly Vinca) Standby Server for NetWare. We use ArcServe 6.6 (soon to
be 7.0, maybe) for backup, and to reduce operator intervention we're
trying to use an HP SureStore tape changer (with an Adaptec SCSI card).

Our problem is that when the tape changer tries to do its thing, NetWare
seems to run an NLM that sucks up all the memory, and then either the
mirroring fails or the server hangs (or both). We've tried adding more
memory, but that doesn't seem to make any difference, and (of course) the
tech support people are all pointing to someone else.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

TIA,

Mike Naughton
