Bob,
I think you can do this with the GRPFLD parameter in conjunction
with the %COUNT function of OPNQRYF. In the sample below, I used the %SUM
function with the GRPFLD parm to accomplish something very near what you
need:
OVRDBF FILE(XPRMUNT) TOFILE(XPRTRAN) SHARE(*YES)
OPNQRYF FILE(XPRTRAN.QGPL) FORMAT(XPRMUNT.QGPL) +
QRYSLT('DATE2 *GE "' *CAT &XSTART *CAT '" +
*AND DATE2 *LE "' *CAT &XEND *CAT '"') +
KEYFLD((MCHGRP) (PRTUNT) (PRDATE)) +
GRPFLD(MCHGRP PRTUNT PRDATE) +
MAPFLD((DATE1 PRDATE *ZONED 6) +
(DATE2 DATE1 *CHAR 6) (TOTUNT '%sum(prnunt)'
*CALC) (TOTRDS '%sum(prnurd)') (MCHGRP +
'%sst(prmchc.XPRTRAN 1 1)'))
/* CALL PRTEST */
Hope this helps.

Subject: Getting record count from OPNQRYF
Is there a way within a CL program to get the record count from an OPNQRYF
statement without having to read and count every record in the HLL program?
Thanks,
Bob Luebbe
