(I'm running on memory here so I may get something
wrong)
The firewall runs on an ipcs card, so if you do
wrknwsd you'll see if there is anything there.  Also,
it's a licpgm (5769-FW1) so you can tell if the
firewall and the fsiop support (5769-SA2) is
installed.  

You start the firewall with strnwsapp(*firewall) and
end it with endnwsapp(*firewall).

If the firewall is running, I think you can see it
with wrkcfgsts *lin.
