I goofed on that code (knew I should have tested it!).
See my updated version when it gets posted to the list.

Basically, instead of this:

              CHGVAR     VAR(&SUPGRPPRF) +
                         VALUE(&USER *CAT %SST(&SUPGRPPRF 1 140))
              CHGUSRPRF  USRPRF(&GRPLIST) SUPGRPPRF(&SUPGRPPRF)

use this:
              DCL        VAR(&CMD) TYPE(*CHAR) LEN(200)
              ...
              CHGVAR     VAR(&CMD) +
                         VALUE('CHGUSRPRF USRPRF(' *TCAT &GRPLIST *TCAT +
                         ') SUPGRPPRF(' *TCAT &USER *BCAT +
                         %SST(&SUPGRPPRF 1 140) *TCAT ')')
              CALL       PGM(QCMDEXC) PARM(&CMD 200)

Coincidentally,  I am trying to do the same thing.  What I have done is a
DSPUSRPRF to an outfile.  I am then changing &UPSUPG to include the new
group
profile.  Unfortunately, when I do the CHGUSRPRF, I am getting CPD0078 -
"Value
'OEXGROUP   ' for parameter SUPGRPPRF not a valid name".  OEXGROUP is the
first
of 4 groups currently in SUPGRPPRF (I am trying to add a 5th).
