I totally disagree. I think MS would like us to think so, as
well as the big hardware dealers, Dell, Compaq, etc. But 
I see tremendous differences (and problems) in reliability 
and compatibility in the pc network area. The same in 
unix. And every time a customer has taken the approach
that even the 400 will talk to "anything" has been a pain. 
It is all things, hardware,  OS, and applications
that make a good, reliable system. And I still think 
Rochester does it better than anyone (just wish they could
keep up with the pace of the rest of the world), but then
quality does take time. 
One way to move the iSeries forward, is for IBM to show
(not us, but the world) the amazing successes and reliability
of the system (and I do mean "system" of hardware, OS, and
applications.
