RE: As/400 send email problem

I can't telnet to their SMTP server.  The Telnet screen flashes then I get:

Message ID . . . . . . :   TCP3422       Severity . . . . . . . :
Message type . . . . . :   Escape
Date sent  . . . . . . :   02/13/01      Time sent  . . . . . . :

Message . . . . :   The requested TCP connection does not exist.
Recovery  . . . :   Open a connection and try the request again.

On the telnet screen I can see breifly something like:

NETMAIL smtp server encountered an error.  Connection closing.

Can you ping janelgroup.net from your 400?  I just ping it from my PC and
got a reply.  Try having a conversation with the AS400's SMTP server.
Telnet to the SMTP server by typing TELNET LOCALHOST PORT(25)

After the SMTP server responds, enter the following commands, press enter at
the end of each line.

HELO (your domain name)       eg: HELO van400.ediconsulting.com
MAIL FROM:<sender@uncommoncarrier.com>   replace sender with a valid user
name
RCPT TO:<xxx@janelgroup.net>
DATA

the type some data, end with a period (.) on a blank line, the message
should be accepted for delivery, or you should see an error somewhere.

We can't send an email to anyone at this janelgroup.net from our AS/400.  I
can send email from other mail servers, and my customer has tested it using
AOL and it works.

Does this message indicate a problem with the DNS?
