I think this can happen when the initial set was build with less than 8 
drives and then drives added to the set. If you build the set with 8 then 
it will use all 8.

Until today I didn't think it was possible to have a RAID set of 10
drives where only 4 carried striping data.  I now have seen a set with
10 8G drives, four of which are model 074 (parity across 4 drives) and
six are model 070 (Parity but no parity data on this drive).

Anybody see this before?
