Is there a way to do so on the AS400? or a product > available to do so? Here is the quick & dirty approach we have used. GO ASSIST Use it to send message Notice the options Cursor in bottom to whom to send something & F4 to see list of users you can select from Hold that session on that screen for a moment Another Session WRK with your JOB to find out what API is involved Write a CL to get at that API so that you can put the GO ASSIST message capability on user menus without giving them GO ASSIST access ( a lot of dangerous options there ) In user profiles, in the TEXT description, which there is a RTV option to get at by &USER, in particular positions add some code letters ... at the end of ours we have one letter identifying the remote location of the user, so that we can send a message to all users at the same remote location. We also have their telephone extension # & other useful aids for easy MSG lookup.
