We have external email facilities and CA/400. > Thanx, Pryce. Look in the archives http://archive.midrange.com for such topic threads as WRKSPLUSR 400 report to PC file spool file to spreadsheet conversion program Look at URLs of places that have resources to make the whole thing go more smoothly - this is not a complete list - just some from past threads www.bvstools.com http://www.datajunction.com http://symtrax.com www.dbg400.net http://www.seacrest.com http://www.gumbo.com www.datawatch.com http://www.pdfing.com/ This group was a BIG help with us learning how to do this in the last month or so. CPYSPLF takes a spool file to a data file without chopping off parts of the report sideways, as had been happening when we got it some place via SEU imports, so we now have a file that is wide enough for 132 print reports & another for 198 compressed print with a collection of members for recent reports such as from our physical inventory, but this is for people using 5250 emulation. Folks on CA can get at spool directly, their security permitting. One thing I am seeing that could stand improvement ... it really is cheap but it does not need to look cheap ... folks take a query/400 output & cut paste it into e-mail in which it is obvious to me that the query creator is not experienced in pretty print ... this needs to be a team effort including someone experienced in making reports pretty print if they want to put it right into the e-mail itself, as opposed to importing to spread sheet or something, then sending as an attachment to e-mail. I recently found out that one of our major vendors / customers on same ERP as we are & I am thinking that it might be constructive to include a copy of layout of file in DB/2 format, since we do not have UDB on the PCs handling the e-mail between the AS/400s. In other words we are sending charts of data, in which layout is lost thanks to the PCs not having UDB, and the fact that while the data inside our AS/400 is YYYYMMDD, our printouts are MM/DD/YY.
