I have this to be a very simple way:
From the Main Menu:
option 11. Client Access/400 tasks
then option 22. Configure PC connections
then 3. Ethernet (LAN)

It then defaults to ETHLINE
I usuall take a "N" to the two options below the line name.
On the next screen it "finds" the correct comm resource and adds a MAC
address.

The only downside is that it creates a 10m half duplex line. That is easy
enough to fix though.

I am trying to create my first ethernet line description. So far it hasn't
been as much fun as I was looking forward to.

A new ethernet controller in a new AS/400 Model 400 running V4R2.

I create the line like this:

CRTLINETH LIND(ETHLINE)
           RSRCNAME(CMN02)
           ADPTADR(*ADPT)
           EXCHID(*SYSGEN)

I try to vary the line on and get message CPD27CD "line not varied on" with
reason code 2006 which translates to "IOP type conflict"

Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks a bunch,

Charly
