Just a rhetorical question: What does the AS/400 Alumni package have that the ERP Alumni Foundation product does not have or what does the AS/400 package do that the ERP AF product does not do?
 
Is it possible for you to host a side-by-side demonstration of both packages to the "powers that be" showing that the AS/400 version is superior to the ERP version?  If the people making the decision of which way to go on this issue see for themselves the differences in the two packages, would they be more inclined to stick with the AS/400 version if is clearly better?
