Just because you can ping from the 400 does not mean is is directly on the
internet.

Thanks, I have client access already and I am
connected to an AS400 via the net.  However, I want to
add a connection to get into a different box. The
AS400 in question is part of a WAN and its I.P.
Address should be only accessible from within the WAN.
 But, I can ping to sites outside of the WAN from this
box which makes me think that the AS400 might not be
behind the firewall.
 I do not understand this area all that well so I may
be way off base. Anyway, Judging from your answer it
may be that I need to research this area before I ask
more questions.
