Chris, <<<<Have you tried using the KEEP keyword on the window programs. What happens is program B clears the screen when is ends, unless KEEP is specified. The <<<<system restores the display from program A but it is not the last screen written. That was program B which had its screen cleared. When control is finally returned to <<<<program A, its screen is restored. Yes, we have KEEP in all our pop up window programs. My understanding of how this works is not that Program A restores the last screen written in Program B, but that is saves a copy of the screen up at the time it suspends Program A. And that is what should be restored. The question really in my mind is when should it restore the picture. I thought it restored it when you first return to Program A, but it does not. I think you have to access the display file in Program A before it will restore the file. We didn't used to have to do this. Whats very frustrating is that all of this used to work (and still works in previous releases of our software) but now doesn't. This release is the first where we have taken all of the programs out of the default activation group and also went to V4R5. So it's very hard to determine where the problem is. maybe my understanding of this has always been wrong (but it worked) and I'm only just now getting bit because of something in ILE. I just don't know.
