Nope - not if you already have ADTS on the box (i.e. SEU, PDM, etc.)  All
the back-end code for VARPG and Code/400 is shipped on every system with
ADTS.

When you install it, (assuming that you have the V3R3M3 version) it will
attempt to connect to the AS/400 and will even tell you if you have PTFs
missing.

You'll get better responses to this and related questions on the Code400
list also hosted by Midrange.com.  I would suggest the IBM newsgroup for
Code/400 but since no IBMers seem to respond there any more.....

PS. I don't know if you are aware of it, but there is a new version of
Code/VARPG out now - it is known as WDT/400 and includes VAJava and
WebSphere Studio as well as some tools to simplify the development of RPG
programs to interface to the web.  No demo version planned as far as I know
- they figure that at $300 it is cheap enough that you can "Buy and Try" as
opposed to "Try and Buy" !!!
