If you are a single user on 170 2290 then I cannot see what the problem is.  I too have a 170 at home and I do not see any performance issues with running Java unless the programs developed are clumsy and slack :-)

Subject: Java performance on model 170/2290

I am planning to buy a model 170 2290 refurbished system from IBM for Java
Development.
I will be the only user on the system.
I have read somewhere that IBM advises a system with more than 500 CPW for
java. Is this true and does somebody has expirience with java on the 2290
machine (70 batch CPW)..
Waiting for your reply,

Maarten
