Hi Neil - >It say's I, like most people who no longer use DOS to >run their PC's, coal to heat their homes, or steam to >run their cars, have progressed to the point where I >use email software that has been developed sometime in >the last century and can handle HTML - and for those >who can't I have Notes set to "HTML & Plain Text" >(which will send plain text first for those with >Etch-a-Sketch PC's) just in case. ;-) My email software will handle HTML just dandy. The problem is digest mode, which just concatenates the messages together. So all of the HTML shows up in raw form. Likewise, attachments show up in raw form. A couple of weeks ago there was a digest (which run about 40K) that because of HTML and excessive quoting had THREE messages in it. A digest should have 10-20 messages. Here's what the second half of your message looks like in the digest:
It say's I, like most people who no longer use DOS to run their PC's, coal to heat their homes, or steam to run their cars, have progressed to the point where I use email software that has been developed sometime in the last century and can handle HTML - and for those who can't I have Notes set to "HTML & Plain Text" (which will send plain text first for those with Etch-a-Sketch PC's) just in case. ;-)

It's too much of a pain to change the setting every time I want to send a message to Midrange-L, so my other choice is to just unsubscribe.
Besides, the HTML point isn't in block capitals like:
DO NOT SEND YOUR UNSUBSCRIBE REQUEST TO
MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com.

PS - David needs to come up with a feature article or something to make the monthly guidelines worth reading. If not, why *do* you have it turned on? I send all of my external email in plain text, since I hope that the content is of sufficient value to the recipient that I don't have to try to make it look pretty to keep the reader's attention. >PS Ken - what about those who read the digest version, and don't change >the Subject field when posting ? ;-) Oops! I try to remember to do that but occasionally I forget. Ken Southern Wine and Spirits of Nevada, Inc.
