I may be understanding your suggestion Jerry, but he has a Linux box on 
the LAN and he wants to see the AS/400 IFS on his Linux box.

Just load SAMBA (www.samba.org) and off you go.  This provides SMB support
on the Linux box.  You will then be able to map a drive at a Windows PC
that is physically on the Linux box.  SAMBA is the Linux equivalent of
NerServer on the AS400.  Printing is also supported by SAMBA.
