I thought it might be telnet, but nobody here has told me for certain.  If it
is telnet, would I be able to use one of the telnet clients I've heard about
on this list before?

I've asked about TCP/IP access, but we just don't have it yet.  They do have
something called Metaframe here, but are limited by the number of lines and
the "stability of the Citrix server".  I've been told that this is much more
preferred for remote AS/400 access than Advantis.

You're apparently either talking about using telnet or TN3270, both of
which provide less than wonderful support for 5250. I use CA Express via
TCP/IP, and it's quite stable. If you can connect via TCP/IP, I'd expect
that you could use it also.
