This is a loaded question.  If you use the new data types, the screen will 
validate them for you, but this requires you to program in ILE.  Regardless 
of what IBM says, most people do not use ILE.  (In fairness to Toronto, 
they frequently speak to "leading edge" users who tend to be early adopters.

You can write your own routine, but keep in mind that date/time separators 
and date format can be overridden at the job level.  To make matters worse, 
*JUL dates are only five digits (plus separator character if any), whereas 
other formats are six characters (plus the two separator characters is any).
