This article refers to the a Gartner report on the cost of retraining COBOL programmers vs hiring those with Java skills.
Could just as easily be RPG instead of COBOL.  You should be aware of the flaws mentioned in the article concerning the Gartner report, in case your point haired boss reads the Gartner report and tells you he's replacing you with a new hire who knows Java.
