RE: Cold Storage Terminals -- MIDRANGE-L

If you are moving between a -25 environment to a refrigerated dock, then
moisture will be a problem, but generally if the terminal stays in the -25
environment, it should be OK.  We have done many RF installs in Cold Storage
facilities using Teklogix products, they have the heated terminals (bad for
battery life), but I do not know who might make a dumb tube for this
environment.

I would try an old 5291 model 1 terminal.  They are still out there and can
survive almost anything.  What is the moisture like?  If it is low and non
condensing, I would try any dumb terminal.  The keyboard might be your only
problem.

Hi, anyone got any advice to help a friend of mine.

We're currently doing yet another implementation in a -25C cold store. Life
just doesn't get much better than this (I really need to get out more...)
Anyway, we don't want to use mobile terminals this time (cost etc) so we're
looking for fixed terminals with 24x80 screens (preferably, the min size is
8x40) that are capable of surviving in the cold store for all time... we
don't expect to be removing them from the store unless they are completely
broken. We are (obviously?) linking to an AS/400 and also don't want to use
RF for communications, as there is no need for the terminals to move. Big
buttons would be good, because it's cold in there and the gloves are big!

Has anyone got any contacts or info on where we can source these from? Our
usual suppliers don't appear to have anything that fits the bill, but I'd
even be happy with a heated case for a normal dumb terminal !
