We only use switches here, no hubs. Our AS400 720 has two LAN cards running 100MB full duplex. They are plugged into different switches. I do not think they have any special programming. I need to check with our Network Administrator who is not in yet. Our router hold both physical IP address as routes to the virtual IP address that is served via our internal DNS/WINS servers. If you are having performance problems I would use Ops Nav to monitor your LAN interface and see how hard it is being hit. Is your interface running at 10/Half or 100/Half or 100/Full duplex? 100 full duplex should handle 400 PCs with ease. I doubt that that is your bottle neck. I would look at your telnet servers and their run priority/time slice and the memory available in the subsystem. Two bits says that is where your performance in dying. We run the telnet server with a run pty of 15 and time slice of 2000. Christopher K. We're running on an 830 @ 4.5 latest cum with over 400 telnet users and we're constantly being bombarded with folks getting knocked off with telnet errors and poor response time. I could really use another connection. Thanks in advance.
