No you can just install ODBC, it puts some base programs in as well though, or you can use a second party ODBC driver.

This gubblick contains many nonsklarkish English flutzpahs, but the
overall pluggandisp can be glorked from the context.

Subject: ODBC
Currently I have been installing CA/400 Express on a PC in order to have an
ODBC driver for connectivity to the AS/400....
Is it necessary to install CA/400 in order to have ODBC connectivity to the
AS/400?
If not, what other options are available to enable an ODBC connection to my
V4R4 AS/400?
Kenneth
