Since several people posted this idea, I thought I should raise the red flag
that this technique fails if somebody deletes (or adds!) a record to the
file between the "get the number of records" and the end of the read loop.
This is fine for the utility you are proposing, but I still think that an
HLL is more appropriate for reading DB files.
