Yeah, but it really stabilized and performed better in V4R4. Heck, just
keep current and you won't have to worry about it.

Eric,

Actually, NetServer became available in V4R2.

     Ron,

Starting in V4R3, you can start netserver to share
     folders/directories/libraries/printers/etc. This feature makes the
AS400 available to Network Neighborhood as if the AS400 was a
Windows server. Works like a charm. As a matter of fact, if you're
using CA Express, you're already using netserver, since there is NO
     shared folder support in Express.

Hi All,

We have a requirement to pass files from the 400 directly to PC's (and
back) without using Client Access (or Express). We know we could use FTP
but that adds a layer of complexity in that we would need to know the
TCP/IP address of each PC ahead of time. Every time a new PC was added at a
clients site, we would have to somehow know the new TCP/IP address of that
PC. This doesn't seem workable (but maybe someone has some ideas?).

Currently, we are using CPYTOPCD to the IFS and mapping a drive to get it
to the PC. But you can't map a drive without cliend access.

Any ideas? How about what manuals to describe the process (or is it really
easy and we are just dense?).
