RE: DSKBAL command

On V4R3..... I'd highly recommend restoring your entire system after you add
your new disk... Anything short of this will result in an extremely
unbalanced disk subsystem. I have been there and tried that. The disk
balancing commands are suppose to be a lot better in V4R4, but in prior
releases they require a dedicated system and are VERY SLOW....

Has anyone added disk on V4R4 or V4R5 and used the new disk balancing
processes? I understand that they can balance disk in the background while
the system is open to users.

In addition to Joseph's question:

I'm on OS400 V3R7M0 looking to upgrade to V4R3.
In a configured system with 1 4Gig mirrored DASD for the OS and RAID-5 with
16 arms.  How do you add more disks to the mirrored and more disks to the
RAID without REINSTALLING or RESTORING the entire system.
Which is the best approach to getting this upgrade done?
