There are two ways that I've handled this situation. Either declare an indicator variable and retrieve individual fields, declaring the problem field like :LDTCRT, :LMBRNAM :INDVAR {, :NEXTVARIFTHEREISONE} (no comma between the host variable and the null indicator, which is a 5I 0 field, and will be non-zero if the returned value is undefined), or assign a non-null value with ifnull in the select like IFNULL(LMBRAM, 'empty'), so that a null can't be returned to the program. This situation is common with joins. hth Pete Pete Hall pbhall@execpc.com http://www.execpc.com/~pbhall/ +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
