Software maintenance? Let's see, the ones who are on V4 and have started it do. Those on V3 do not. Now, if some people on V4 want to pay a premium so that they are supported for compiling back to V3R2, that's fine, but I have no interest in that and would rather not contribute to it. Since IBM doesn't break it up that way, I imagine that it IS costing my employer something to support the current capability, so from a selfish point of view I should probably advocate dumping it sooner, rather than later. I guess I won't complain, though, unless someone comes up with figures that show that the amount we're contributing for this function is substantial. -----Original Message----- From: Leif Svalgaard [mailto:leif@leif.org] Sent: Friday, September 22, 2000 3:30 PM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: Re: API's & Compiling to Prev Release From: Shaw, David <dshaw@spartan.com> > As for the money part, perhaps the arguments are > tired and old, but in the end support costs money - is it arrogance or > economics when IBM says they won't support an old release any more? don't people PAY for maintenance? +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +--- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
