I have an novel (or not so novel) idea about a way of invoking the
file server routines that we have talked about on and off for a while.

It would be possible to use SPECIAL files but there is one limitation
that I see and it is a crippling one at that. None of the random I/O
commands are supported. If the random I/O commands were supported then
WOW this would be the perfect way to integrate your file serving
application.

Perhaps a new device type could be made in the RPG compiler...
RANDSPEC or something. The parameter list would be more complicated
and I imagine something structured like the QUSRTVJOBI in that it
would support multiple sections for key descriptors (ie. how many
keys, key type, key length and key values) and what have you.

Perhaps this is already in the works :-) Or perhaps it is already
possible and due to my just awakened state I am not seeing it.
