I can come up with one... But the Backup and Recovery Guide should cover it. You will loose spool files with opt# 21 but everything else should be there. Very Basic Steps from Memory #1 SET IPL OPTION to "D" #1a SET to MANUAL #2 Insert 1st tape of 21 #3 IPL #4 when stops with a6xx 6001 or screen on console... tell it to "INSTALL" LIC #5 Once DST shows up tell it to INSTALL OS #6 Add ALL the disks back at this point #7 For the most part take the defaults (I would change qautocfg to *yes) #8 Sign on as QSECOFR with pwd QSECOFR #9 GO RESTORE #10 OPT21 and sit back... --------------------------------- Kirk Goins IBM Certified AS/400 Technical Solutions Pacific Information Systems - An IBM Premier Business Partner 503-290-2104 kirkg@pacinfosys.com "WE KNOW TECHNOLOGY" --------------------------------- "Charly Jones" <charly301@hotmail.com> Sent by: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com 09/11/00 05:17 PM Please respond to MIDRANGE-L To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com cc: Subject: check list for reloading an AS/400 I want to completely reload a system that has been saved using Option 21 - Save Entire System. I want to scratch the disks, reload LIC, profiles, everything... I don't need to reconfigure the disks or change RAID or mirroring. Is it possibly option 21 - Restore Entire System? I have been clicking around with Ops Nav for the last several hours and I don't see any options that look like they will help. I don't do this very often. Seems like there are several screens and options that I have trouble remembering which is the right way to go. So I try doing an "automatic install" and that turns out not to be correct, so I try this option, then that... and about 8 hours later it is done. Does anyone have a checklist that summarizes the steps? Thanks a bunch, Charly "Geezer in Gig Harbor" Old age is tough... _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
