 >> can OPM and ILE programs share resources etc??

Simple answer - Yes. But (and it is a biiiiiiggggggg BUT) it is NOT the
default behavior for OPNDBF, OVRDBF, etc. There are too many options to
thoroughly discuss here but you should research the override scope
parameter on OVRDBF and the OPNSCOPE on OPNDBF and you'll begin to see the
picture. During a transition period it can be simpler to compile "real"
ILE programs with the attribute *CALLER and allow them to run in the
default AG along with OPM programs.
Before you do this check to see if your programs really need to be "real"
ILE programs at all. The problems you are encountering are the very reason
_why_ RPG IV has a compatibility mode option (which is the default for
CRTBNDRPG). If you are going to move into using "real" ILE programs then
you need to learn a bit about ILE or you could get yourself in very deep
yogurt! In many ways you need to know more about ILE if you mix OPM and
ILE together than if you just switch everything to ILE.

One other thing - ensure that you do not have an indicator on the CALL
statement in a "real" ILE program - or if you do - make sure that you do
something with it (i.e. stop the program or whatever. Trust me - you don't
want to find out about this one the hard way.
