Visual Age RPG provides a fast way to bring up a client/server front end. It uses DDM. We've also been messing about with Brad Stone's ideas for cgi RPG and that is surprising us with its success so far, especially as we really do want to get to a browser interface for a lot of the user applications. Nina swears by ASNA's web enablement application. There seems to be a lot of people using Visual Basic, but do Visual Basic applications ever get finished and installed, or are they just works-in-process forever? _______________________ Booth Martin Booth@MartinVT.com http://www.MartinVT.com _______________________ Iain Clark <iain.clark@isoftaus.com.au> Sent by: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com 08/30/2000 02:08 AM Please respond to MIDRANGE-L To: "'MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com'" <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> cc: Subject: Client/Server Applications - what to use? I have an application to write that I feel would benefit from a graphical, ie VB5 front end. My question is - what is the best way to link the application to the as/400....APPC, Data Queues, RDO/VDO, ODBC, etc, etc. There would need to be a certain amount of validation to be performed on various input fields, so constant communication between the two is imperative. Any ideas or pointers would be appreciated.
