Andrew, There are lots of good reasons to use JSPs, but since you've asked for the reasons NOT to: 10) Don't want to put my 400 directly on the net 9) Have a staff that knows ASP but not JSP 8) No support for COM/DCOM on JSP on AS/400 (and I have COM/DCOM objects I need to use) 7) Have non-AS/400 data I need to access and can do so MUCH easier from NT 6) Have non-AS/400 data that I simply can't access from AS/400 (Exchange Server) 5) Rest of corporate intra/extra/internet deployed on IIS, why use both? 4) Reliability - I know the 400 is more stable than NT, but is it more stable than 5 NT servers? 3) Easy to find hosting locations that support ASP 2) Hard to find hosting locations that support AS/400s -and the number one reason to use ASP over JSP on the AS/400: 1) Bill simply isn't rich enough yet! -Walden -----Original Message----- From: Andrew Borts [mailto:andrewb@setacorporation.com] Sent: Monday, August 28, 2000 3:33 PM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: Re: Active Server Pages Why not use JSP's directly on the AS/400? It's the fastest Java engine on the planet (as long as you have an 840 12 way!) JSP=ASP in Java. You can use Homesite to develop this too! -Andrew ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cyndi Bradberry" <CyndiB@IHFA.ORG> To: <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> Sent: Monday, August 28, 2000 12:51 PM Subject: RE: Active Server Pages > Hi, > > We are serving activer server pages from an NT box with the AS/400 as the > database.
