There is an initialization command for the 7852-400 to do that, but you have to be on V4R1 or later to be able to use it. I don't have the modem manual to be able to find it or know which switch settings are necessary to make it work, but the full initialization string that MessengerPlus uses on our machine to switch it to asynch is ATTE0M1S0=0&D3&S0&C0 .
