RE: SMTP Problem?

Can you "talk" to the SMTP server.  On you 400 try to telnet to LOCALHOST on
port 25 and see if the SMTP server responds.  From there you can enter some
SMTP commands to see if things appear to be working.
try
HELO yourhostname.com
MAIL FROM: <your email address>
RCPT TO: <to email address>
DATA
then type some data, to end put a . on a blank line followed by a CR.
You should see some indication that things are working.  I have found this
to be the easiest way to test/troubleshoot the SMTP server on the AS400.
Depending on what OS release you are on, you can turn on the flight
recorders or there is a TRACE TCP command in higher versions.

It appears that our AS/400 is NOT sending emails (no one is receiving after
job run to send, usually show up within 1-2 minutes, now been 1 hour plus)
using SNDDST.  Cannot find any error messages, job logs, etc on the 400
side.  New at this so not sure where to look to see if they are being sent.
Can anyone help?
